Our Mission
Our mission is to provide high-quality nutrition education to physical therapists and rehabilitation professionals through structured, clinically relevant programs. We focus on helping clinicians understand how nutrition impacts recovery, inflammation, strength development, and long-term health.
Clinicians gain the tools and confidence to integrate nutrition into patient care while staying within their professional scope.
Our Vision
We believe the future of rehabilitation lies in a more comprehensive approach to care. By integrating rehabilitation nutrition training into standard practice, clinicians can better support the full healing process, not just movement and function. Our vision is to elevate the profession by making clinical nutrition therapy education a foundational component of physical therapy and rehabilitation.
A Nutritional Physical Therapy Program Built for Clinicians
Our nutritional physical therapy program is designed specifically for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, and athletic trainers. Unlike general nutrition courses, our nutritional physical therapy program focuses on real-world clinical application and how nutrition directly impacts rehabilitation outcomes.
Our curriculum includes:
- Foundational nutrition principles for rehabilitation
- Patient assessment strategies and communication
- Applications for common conditions such as chronic pain, inflammation, and post-operative recovery
- Integration into existing treatment workflows
All courses are delivered online, allowing clinicians to complete rehabilitation nutrition training at their own pace while continuing to work in practice.
Practical, Evidence-Based Clinical Nutrition Training
Our approach to clinical nutrition therapy education is built on three core principles:
Led by Dr. Sean M. Wells
Nutritional Physical Therapy was founded by Dr. Sean M. Wells, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, athletic trainer, and strength and conditioning specialist with decades of experience in clinical practice and education. Sean also has undergraduate and graduate research experience and publications focused on diet, aging, and lifespan mechanisms.
Dr. Wells developed this program to address a gap in traditional rehabilitation training, where nutrition is often overlooked despite its significant impact on healing and recovery. His work focuses on helping clinicians integrate nutrition into practice in a way that is practical, effective, and aligned with professional standards.
A More Complete Approach to Rehabilitation
Patients do not recover based on exercise alone. Healing is influenced by a combination of movement, lifestyle, and nutrition. Without proper nutritional support, progress in therapy can be limited by factors such as poor recovery, inflammation, and lack of energy.
By incorporating nutrition education for physical therapists into rehabilitation, clinicians can improve patient engagement, accelerate recovery timelines, and deliver more sustainable results.
This approach positions clinicians to provide a higher level of care while meeting the growing demand for holistic, patient-centered treatment and reflects the value of nutritional physical therapy education.
