Understanding Colorado PDA Point Requirements for PTs
The Colorado State Physical Therapy Board oversees professional development through its mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. In Colorado, continuing competence requirements are calculated as Professional Development Activities (PDA) Points (equivalent to clock hours). Licenses must be renewed biennially by October 31st of even-numbered years.
What Counts for Colorado PT Â PDA Points?
Colorado utilizes a self-directed learning plan model where clinicians complete a Reflective Self-Assessment Tool (RSAT) and accrue points across specific categories. Formal educational coursework—including online courses and structured web-based modules—falls under Category I Activities.

The Biennial Points Breakdown
- Physical Therapists (PT): 30 PDA points total every two years. (Note: Physical Therapist Assistants in Colorado are currently exempt from mandatory CPD hours).

- Conversion Rate: 1 contact hour of continuous instruction equals 1 Category I PDA point.
