Understanding Florida CEU Requirements and Compliance for PTs and PTAs
The Florida Board of Physical Therapy mandates that all licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) complete continuing education to maintain an active license. In Florida, this requirement is tracked strictly as Contact Hours.
Florida operates on a biennial renewal cycle, with all licenses expiring on November 30th of odd-numbered years. To prevent an administrative license suspension, you must secure your credits within this two-year compliance window and track them through CE Broker.
What Counts for Florida PT CEU Approval?
Because our comprehensive clinical nutrition curriculum is approved by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy, our courses carry premier status in our home state! Florida practitioners can complete their hours 100% online and purchase directly from our main platform.
The Biennial Hourly & Category Breakdown
To meet your total continuing education mandate, your contact hours must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Physical Therapists (PT) & Assistants (PTA): 24 contact hours total every two years.
- Home Study Limit: A maximum of 12 hours may be completed via home study/on-demand online courses per renewal cycle. The remaining 12 hours must be live or interactive (such as live webinars). Our self-paced courses count toward your 12-hour home study allowance.
- Mandatory Subjects: Licensees must complete 2 hours of Prevention of Medical Errors every renewal cycle. First-time renewers also require 1 hour of HIV/AIDS training.
