Washington Physical Therapy CEU Requirements

Understanding Washington PT CEU Requirements

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) mandates that all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants demonstrate ongoing professional development. Licenses must be renewed every year on or before the practitioner's birthday, while Continuing Education (CE) Hours and employment tracking are verified on a biennial (two-year) cycle.

What Counts for Washington PT CEU Approval?

Washington accepts courses that are directly relevant to the clinical practice of physical therapy and are approved by recognized state or national physical therapy associations. Our online courses carry reciprocal acceptance for Washington CE hours.

The Biennial Hourly Breakdown

Washington physical therapy professionals must fulfill both educational and clinical practice baselines:

  • Physical Therapists (PT): 32 CE hours and 200 hours of physical therapy employment every two years.
  • Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA): 24 CE hours and 200 hours of physical therapy employment every two years.
  • Mandatory Subjects: All licensees must complete 2 hours of Health Equity training every two years (counts toward total hours). A one-time, 3-hour Suicide Prevention training is also required.

© 2026 Nutritional PT Courses are approved by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy, an approved provider of the APTA. Prospective students desiring continuing education credit are urged to check with their state continuing education requirements before enrolling in our programs. If you do not live in Washington, some courses may require individual board verification. It is the participant’s responsibility to verify if their licensing agency accepts reciprocity with the Florida Board of Physical Therapy Association. We are happy to provide each registrant with documentation needed to submit to their own licensing board for individual approval. The Company is not currently a BOC, AOTA, or CME provider.
